It's been a while
Well its been nearly 2 weeks since the last entry here. Such a long time. I have though had a week off work in that time which may explain the lack of posting ;)
I managed to see the film Cars, go bowling and check out an airshow...... add in a load of Mario Kart and some smash football and you have a great week with the kids.
So it's Thursday and the evening beckons. There is potential for some photo evidence as a night on the town looms to celebrate James' tour to India as chief problem fixer :D
Until then..

Wednesday - It's the new Thursday
So I was on they way to Kung Fu Pauls' house for a bit of extra curricular training when I received a call from the backup king James. A beverage was on the cards and would I like to join him. Only after the secret ninja training I replied. So by 21:30 I found myself in the local 'spoons, partaking in the consumption of a Stella. The boys had been there for a while, drunk the place dry of vodka, and were on the G & Ts.
I was asked how long I would be out for by Alan 'the animal' Johnston. My response of 'whenever' was warmly greeted with a 'CoCo lounge?'. I didn't think he was entirely serious. It was a Wednesday night for goodness sake. Plying Foxy with a double gin had the desired effect as he was warming to the idea of the CoCo as it was on the way home....
Accosting a young boy as he walked past, 'the animal' enquired if the CoCo was open and what night was it. '02:00 and its Emo night'. When I was young we had words that old people didn't understand, and here I was not understanding junior and his description of the night. EMO? What is Emo!?! Damn, I am getting old. I didn't even realise the extent of it either!
Well we ended up in the CoCo as it was open. £2 a bottle(bonus, Davs is £3.50). And the music... well... I would say Indie/Rock/Punk... Think the Killers, Orson and maybe Limp Biscuit and Maximo Park?.... Welthat'sts about all I knew. Thankfully the DJ slapped in some Mylo and Prodigy nearer the end of the night and even went crazy with Madness and Ah Ha! Which made me feel better :D
Well James didn't make it out last night so another photo extravaganza could be on the cards tonight! We will see if I wake from my post work nap ;)

Unexpected night out!
Oh dear - Poor Foxy.... It's so easy to twist his arm into doing anything(and mine which is why I was taking the photo). It was Alans' fault. Wednesday night for goodness sake. At the CoCo lounge!! AND, to top it all, it was Emo night... What in Gods' name is EMO!!!!!!
(someone told me that it stood for emotional rocker - well the music fitted.. The Killers, Orson and umm.. loads of stuff I have never heard)
I felt old and out of place! As least Ant is older than me and was probably the oldest guy in there with the exception of the DJ and the doorman hahaha!
The PhlatBall(tm)s arrived!
So they arrived (by 2nd class post though!) in pretty quick time. One green and one purple. The boys loved them. Really excited when I gave them too them, especially as they have one each. Kept them entertained for the day!
So thank you very much PhlatBall(tm) - they haven't broken yet despite excessive amounts of dropping interspersed with the odd kick(tut tut). Pretty good service I would say :)

Don't call the kids clever..
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/education/5241524.stm
'Teachers should stop calling bright pupils "clever" for fear they might not be considered "cool" by classmates, a union has been told. Insted the should refer to academic high-achievers as successful'
What kind of delusional insanity is this? Regardless of what the teacher calls you, if you are a geek you will be called such. The boffins will still be called boffins, squares will be called squares... people with glasses will get called four eyes, boys who display effeminate mannerisms will be called gay, the list could go on for ever. Don't patronise our children. If a child is clever tell him. If the chavs in the class mock them then so be it. In society those who feel the need will always find something to laugh at you for, whether its the way you look, the way you talk or the way you dress.
I will continue to use the word clever if a child warrants it. It has so much more meaning.. par examplé - a young child tells you the time from the clock for the first time. You tell them they are very successful. Doesn't quite have the same ring to it as you are very clever.
Let those who go through life with deferred success' revel in the fact this country is being moulded around them more are more thanks to our government.
And if you are mocked then there's only one thing left to do... Fat Sau, Multiple Lin Wan Kuens' followed by Man Geng Sau with an elbow, double Man Geng Sau with a headbutt. That'll sort the fu*kers out.

The Wonderful Weather
As I sit here at work and look outside I do question the British weather sometimes. Its a very miserable day... Dark cloudy skies, rain and touch of wind. The kind of weather I enjoy looking at while I am sitting indoors. Perfect weather for a Sunday afternoon where you can get comfortable on the sofa and watch an enthralling 5 nations game, or maybe even a film; one of the classics such as Flash Gordon, Indiana Jones or The Goonies. If you're feeling adventurous then a walk in the forest with the dog and your thoughts before returning for a nap in from of the motor racing.
Its a day more akin to late September/October. Not 10:00 on the 3rd of August! Its not surprising though. Summer seems to start earlier and earlier. We have had a veritable feast of sun peaking at temperatures well into the 30s. So have we reached autumn already where it will stay until maybe January? Time will tell, but until then you will find me on the sofa...

Can you help me and guess the word?
I am looking for a word... Its one that I can't quite get correct. I can think of many others that relate to it, but not the word I am looking for..
What is it called when:
You expect something to happen, something that's regular and that you look forward to. Something that brings you happiness and joy and that you would be sad if it didn't happen. Well at short notice you are told that its not going to happen.
Initially you are sad, but the reasons given to you mean that you are happy that its not going to happen. Happy because its for the greater good. Happy because hopefully by missing out on this event it will be very beneficial for other people.
So you lose out on something that you really wanted but your feelings of sadness and upset are overruled by your feelings of hope and happiness that is for the better(for other people).
What is it called. What is the emotion? Compassion? I don't think so....
Help me out here. Find the word and win a prize!
